The New Beetle.

Over 50 years

This is the length of time between the presentation of the Beetle Cabriolet in 1949 and the introduction of the New Beetle Cabriolet in the spring of 2003. And yet the two vehicles have a great deal in common: they offer open-top driving pleasure to anyone and everyone. Without roll bar and of course with the characteristic top-mounted hood at the rear. This unmistakable shape is emphasised by the even more individual and dynamic design. The New Beetle Cabriolet is thus the up-to-date development of the old Beetle Cabriolet, transporting its positive ambience into the present.

Classic curves

Classic curves

The shapes and curves of the Volkswagen classic have been obvious and unmistakable for generations. The new design gives the New Beetle an even friendlier appearance. Eye-catching highlights such as the air outlet grilles or the sportily designed wings and bumpers conjure up a smile – and not just on the driver's face. The classic tonneau cover at the rear slots harmoniously into the silhouette of the Cabriolet.

Looking smart in any season

The New Beetle Cabriolet always looks a picture. Its powerful curves, the long wheelbase and wide track convey a sense of sporty dynamism. However, as soon as the soft top has been folded up and is lying flat but still visible on top at the rear, the New Beetle Cabriolet displays its own very particular charm. A trim strip running right around the car strikingly emphasises the transition between body and hood and the bottom edge of the windscreen.

Simply slimmer

Simply slimmer

The New Beetle Cabriolet not only possesses charm but is also extremely obliging. If things should get a little tight in romantic alleyways, or when passing through ancient portals carrying a protection order, its door mirrors can be folded back electrically as required. In this way, the body-colour door mirror housings with built-in indicators are kept out of harm's way.

Extremely charming

Climb in and smile. The New Beetle Cabriolet welcomes you in, leaving the everyday bustle outside. The flower vase in the cockpit puts you in a good mood and creates a pleasant atmosphere, having long since become a cult object. This unique, legendary detail oozes the charm that is typical of the Beetle. Positioned right next to the air vents of the heating and ventilation system, it turns every journey into a short holiday break.

Fresh elegance

Fresh elegance

One of the numerous changes to the model relates to the smart chrome surrounds on the air vents and the chrome frame of the instrument cluster – a perfect combination of new, tangible freshness and sporty elegance. An equally refreshing feature is the blue instrument lighting. It fits in perfectly with the design of the passenger compartment and ensures that the instruments can be easily read.

Handy looks

More than just a breath of luxury wafts around the interior of the New Beetle Cabriolet. Thought has been given to all the senses, including touch. In all models from 110 kW, the New Beetle Cabriolet offers a tactile experience for your hands as standard: in these models the steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever are covered in fine leather.

Treat yourself

Admirers of that special touch are well catered for in the New Beetle Cabriolet. The leather upholstery available as an optional extra is thrillingly elegant, and on top of this it also breathes and is particularly easy to look after. The steering wheel rim, the gear knob and handbrake lever, plus all the seat surfaces, are trimmed in fine leather in this equipment option. Furthermore, an adjustable front seat heating system ensures pleasant temperatures at all times.
