Volkswagen Middle East announces participation at the 10th Dubai International Motor Show 2009
Exhibits to feature sporty side of Volkswagen
Dubai, 13 October 2009 – Volkswagen Middle East has announced it will be participating in the 10th Dubai International Motor Show 2009 taking place from 15 to 20 December 2009. Volkswagen, along with its local long-term partner Al Nabooda Automobiles, will be offering visitors the unique opportunity to see the award-winning Race Touareg and the super-athletic Scirocco GT24 at this year’s show. The complete Volkswagen model line up will feature the iconic sixth generation Golf, the new sporty Golf GTI, the thrilling Scirocco and the four door coupe Passat CC. In addition, Volkswagen exhibits will also showcase the latest Touareg R-line, Tiguan R-line, Passat R36, Phaeton, Eos, and Jetta.

Accompanying these two celebrated models are the latest vehicles Volkswagen has to offer, illustrating our well rounded portfolio for the Middle East market.”

At the Volkswagen stand in Hall 2 will be the infamous Volkswagen Race Touareg. The purpose-built sport utility vehicle has taken part in the Dakar Rally for the past seven years, coming first in the 2009 race. Designed by the Volkswagen Design Centre based in Santa Monica, California, the Race Touareg is powered by a 2.5 litre five-cylinder TDI diesel engine with 280 hp.
During the Dubai International Motor Show 2009, Qatari racing driver, Nasser Al Attiyah will be accompanying the vehicles on the Volkswagen stand. Nasser has extensive experience in sprint and cross country rallies and as a regular driver of the Race Touareg has recently confirmed his place as one of the Volkswagen drivers for the Dakar Rally 2010 to defend the title earned earlier this year.

Complimenting the Race Touareg will be the Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 model with its sleek blue-white finish making its first appearance in the region also. The 315hp Scirocco GT24, competed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring last year, draws its power from only two-litre displacement: the 16-valve direct injection engine with a turbocharger and intercooler delivers its maximum torque of 340 Newton metres beginning from only 2,100 rpm. |
