The Touareg.
| Technology meets design – the TouaregA robust debut: at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris in October, Volkswagen presented the next Touareg generation ahead of its market launch starting on 30 November. To accompany the launch, this page is featuring a special presentation of the Touareg. Get ready to enjoy a true multimedia highlight. |
Visual upgrade – improved aerodynamicsThe Touareg has had a facelift, and that is easy to see from the chrome-look, shield-shaped radiator grille that is typical of Volkswagen. The redesign also includes the now more organically shaped headlight housings – with the option of bi-xenon headlights with cornering light. The Touareg has new door mirrors and an optimised roof spoiler to improve its aerodynamics.
| Technical innovations as a world firstThe Touareg's ABSplus system, developed and patented by Volkswagen, is a world first. It detects loose surfaces such as sand or gravel and shortens the braking distance by up to 20% by means of controlled locking of the brakes. The electronic stabilisation program (ESP) also has some new functions. For example, roll stability is increased and brake pressure is built up as a precautionary measure as soon as you lift your foot from the accelerator. |
The V8 FSI – a novelty in powertrain technologyThe Touareg is the first Volkswagen to sport an eight-cylinder engine with petrol direct injection. The new Touareg V8 FSI is a masterful combination of the superior economy of the six-cylinder FSI engine and 350 progressive horsepower with maximum torque of 440 Nm (fuel consumption: 13.8 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 329 g/km)*.
| Wellness for your earsHigh-end in the field of entertainment: the Touareg is the first SUV in the world that can be equipped with a sound system from Danish hi-fi specialists Dynaudio. Ten carefully matched tweeters, mid-range and bass speakers driven by a ten-channel amplifier deliver a full and clear sound with 600 watts of music power. External audio sources, such as an MP3 player, can be connected up via the optional multimedia socket in the central armrest. |
*Notice in accordance with Directive 1999/94/EC: Information on official fuel consumption figures and the official specific CO2 emissions of new passenger cars can be found in the EU guide "Information on the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of new cars" which is available free of charge at all sales dealerships and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, at Helmuth-Hirth-Straße 1, 73760 Ostfildern, Germany.
