This system generates an audible warning if it detects obstacles in front or behind the vehicle when drive into a parking space, and also provides a visual display of the distance to these obstacles.

Lane Assist combines various components and includes a lane departure warning, lane departure aid and driver alert system. It can use a multifunction camera to detect the current lane and countersteers if you stray from the lane at speeds above 60 km/h. It can also generate a warning tone and an indication in the multifunction display.

This system can automatically obey speed restrictions, for example when driving through roadworks, and accelerate back to the originally set speed afterwards.

This system can help keep the correct distance from the vehicle ahead and can briefly stop and start the engine in traffic jams or city traffic. While ACC+ is available for automatic gearboxes, which allows the vehicle to be braked completely, manual transmissions have normal ACC. In this case, when braking, downshifts must be made in good time to prevent the engine from stalling.

The fully automatic parking assist steering helps you when driving into and out of a parking space. It can perform multi-directional parking in parallel parking spaces. When reverse gear is engaged, the vehicle automatically assumes control of the steering. The driver simply operates the accelerator pedal and brake, supervising the parking process and intervening if necessary. The system can also help when backing out of a parking space. If the driver fails to respond to the acoustic warning when a vehicle gets hazardously close, the system can initiate an automatic braking intervention.

Front Assist is provided as standard in the EU, always together with a City Emergency Braking System, swerve support and oncoming vehicle braking when turning. The Front Assist can detect pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles in the direction of travel by sensor and warn the driver of recognized hazardous situations. If the driver does not react in time, automatic emergency braking is possible and evasive action is supported in critical situations. The assist system can detect when a potential collision is imminent and respond by activating the brakes in order to slow or stop the vehicle before impact and thus, in the best case, avoid a collision.

When the turn signal is switched on, oncoming vehicle braking when turning monitors as you cross the opposite lane and can stop the vehicle in critical situations.

A camera on the windscreen continuously analyses the traffic ahead and the oncoming traffic. From a certain speed, Light Assist automatically switches on the main beam. The optional “IQ.Light” LED matrix headlights optimally illuminate the road and the edge of the road. If an oncoming vehicle approaches, the Dynamic Light Assist blocks out the area around the oncoming vehicle by switching off individual light beams. This only slightly reduces the power of the main beam and there is no longer any need to switch back and forth between main and dipped beam. As soon as the vehicle has passed, the main beam lights up in full power again.

If your Amarok is equipped with optional “IQ.Light” LED matrix headlights, it’s not just you that benefits – so does oncoming traffic. “IQ.Light” LED matrix headlights offer dynamic dimming of the main beam, static cornering light and increased comfort by improving near-side illumination when reversing.

Area View provides the driver with a panoramic view around the vehicle, which can be especially helpful when manoeuvring or driving into a parking space. Multiple views from the four cameras on all sides of the vehicle can be selected – including a 360° view of the vehicle from above.

The anti-lock brake system can prevent the wheels from locking, for example when braking, thus maintaining steering ability. Electronic Stability Control can prevent understeering or oversteering by selectively braking individual wheels.

This can register a loss of concentration on the part of the driver and warn the driver over a period of five seconds to take a break using an acoustic signal and a visual break recommendation in the instrument cluster. If the driver does not take a break within the next 15 minutes, the warning is repeated once.

Informs the driver of the current tyre pressures before and during the journey and can warn in the event of loss of pressure. Every wheel is fitted with sensors that wirelessly provide information about the pressure and temperature.

Warns, based on traffic sign recognition, that the driver is entering the motorway from the wrong side.
